This works when charging is part of a rate-justified amenity package for higher-tier rooms, and the cost per session is a fraction of the room rate.
**Free with food purchase:** A smart model for highway restaurants and cafés. A minimum spend at the restaurant qualifies the guest for a free or subsidised charge. This drives F&B revenue directly tied to the charger’s presence.
The billing model affects your charger choice. Paid per kWh requires OCPP-enabled smart chargers with a management platform handling payment, access, and session tracking. Free or access-controlled models can work with simpler setups, though OCPP capability is still recommended for future flexibility.
Most hotel owners do not want to be in the electricity business. They want the benefit of EV charging for hotels property without managing firmware updates, user billing disputes, or maintenance call-outs.
